A new hope for Chicago Promontory Point Conservancy

In January 2000, the decision was made to replace the historic limestone Chicago Promontory Point seawall dating back to the 1930’s with concrete.

Hundreds of supporters fought to prevent this city landmark from demolition.

After 23 years of negotiations with the city authorities, they were finally able to capture objective and reliable data, thanks to ANAFI Ai.

McLaren Engineering Group performed a 3D mapping with ANAFI Ai.
This study revealed that the limestone blocks still play their protective role and suffer from very moderate erosion, contrary to previous claims and thus saving the landmark from being replaced by concrete.
