RATIO Architects is based in Indianapolis and specializes in the restoration of historical monuments. They have been given the responsibility of restoring a sculpture found on the roof of a building, which makes it difficult because you cannot see the statue without erecting scaffolding or climbing on the roof. Thanks to Parrot Bebop Pro 3D Modeling, RATIO can create a 3D model of the sculpture and estimate the renovation costs with ease.

Evaluating the condition of a historic monument efficiently and safely

The first step of the restoration project is to give the client the detailed work that the renovation requires. To do this effectively, RATIO observes and analyzes the project, which often includes access to narrow and hazardous locations. This also includes the use of heavy and bulky materials, such as scaffolding and ladders that not only take time to erect, but can also be hazardous to use.

Using a drone is safe and accurate

To renovate the statue, RATIO used the Parrot Bebop Pro 3D Modeling drone which made it possible to develop a precise diagram of the site and the different floors.     In addition, the 3D images of the project were used to rebuild the sculpture in its original state with the help of artists specialized in restoration.

An effective drone combined with advanced 3D software

Parrot Bebop Pro 3D Modeling uses a compact and lightweight drone as well as a program called Pix4D to create 3D models in no time at all.
