Parrot speakers - Frequently Asked Questions

I cannot establish the connection between my PC and the Zikmu.

Compatibility	PC:Parrot speakers are compatible with all PCs supporting A2DP Bluetooth profile. If your PC is not Bluetooth enabled, use a Bluetooth dongle. Phone:Make sure that your phone supports the A2DP profile. Refer to the Phone compatibility page of your product for more information.
Bluetooth visibility	If you are using your PC / phone with the speakers for the 1st time, make sure you have pressed the Bluetooth or Configuration button on the Parrot speakers control panel. Refer to your speakers user guide for more information.
PIN code	Enter the 0000 PIN code when you are asked to do so.
Bluetooth software version	Make sure you have the latest Bluetooth software version on your PC. To find out which Bluetooth software you are using, select the About tab on the Parrot Audio Configuration Tool software and check the Bluetooth stack field. If you are using the windows vista or windows 7 OS, the software version of Parrot Audio Configuration Tool should be at least 2.05 to identify Bluetooth stacks correctly. Then, make sure there is no available software update on the manufacturer website (generally in the support section). For instance, If you have the Broadcomm Bluetooth software, click here. If you have the Toshiba Bluetooth software, click here. For embedded Bluetooth in laptops, you can download these drivers on the laptop manufacturer’s website (generally in support section).
Bluesoleil Bluetooth stack	We recommend you do not use the Bluesoleil Bluetooth stack as we noticed several audio quality issues (such as audio gaps). Besides the Parrot Audio Configuration Tool software does not work with the Bluesoleil stack.
Microsoft Bluetooth stack	Microsoft Bluetooth stack doesn’t support Bluetooth A2DP streaming, although you have the possibility to use with parrot audio configuration tool in order to change parrot speakers settings.

There is a gap between the audio signal and the video signal when I am watching a video on my computer while being
connected to the Zikmu via Bluetooth.

Use the Parrot Audio Configuration Tool software to solve this problem. Select the Advanced tab and make sure that the current audio delay is “150ms”.

I use a Jack audio cable to connect my audio player to parrot speakers, but I get no sound

Make sure that the jack audio cable is properly plugged into the Parrot speakers and your audio player.
Make sure there is no Bluetooth streaming connection with an audio Player.
The Bluetooth connection takes priority over the Jack connection. Check the volume of the speakers

I hear buzzing sounds and gaps while using the Parrot speakers via Bluetooth

The distance between the audio source and the speakers, and between the speakers themselves may influence the audio gaps issues. Move the speakers closer.
Make sure that parrot speakers are up to date. If not the case, update the Parrot speakers software.
If you use a wifi devices such as modem, move your parrot speakers away from it.
In some cases, if your laptops have embedded wifi and Bluetooth device, this may encounter some audio quality issues, if is the case you need to deactivate embedded wifi device.
Some third party softwares such as firewalls can block the Bluetooth signal. If so, you need to allow the Bluetooth signal in your firewall, or to deactivate the firewall.
If you have a Parrot Dongle or if your PC is equipped with the Widcomm Bluetooth software:

Click on Start and select run.
Enter regedit and click OK.
Select edit > find and search for the keyword « linespeed ».
Double-click on Linespeed.
Select Decimal and change the default value from « 328 » to « 250 ».

I just updated my Parrot SOUND SYSTEM and now the LED are blinking in red.

This problem occurs when only one of the speakers is updated. You need to redo the update procedure on the 2nd speaker. To do so:

Unplug the speaker you just updated (you can identify the speaker software version with its Bluetooth name (ex: ParrotSoundV1.XXXX)).
Delete the previous pairings from the Bluetooth interface.
Redo the update procedure.

I just updated my Parrot SOUND SYSTEM and they don’t switch on anymore

Where I can find the necessary drivers to use the parrot Dongle?

The Parrot Dongle drivers (Windows XP, Vista & 7) are available here.
Please note that the drivers on the CD provided with the Parrot Dongle are not compatible with Windows vista, or windows 7. Uninstall these drivers before installing the drivers available on our Download webpage.

How to identify parrot speakers software version

Use the Parrot Audio Configuration Tool software to identify your speakers software version.
Once connected, select the Overview tab.

Is it possible to stream music from my iPhone to the Parrot speakers ?

It is impossible to stream music via Bluetooth from 1st generation iPhone, as they do not support the A2DP profile.
But the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 2G support this profile.
You can then stream music to the Parrot speakers via Bluetooth using these devices.

The A2DP profile is available from the 3.0 software version for iPhone 3G / ipod touch 2G.

Is it possible to stream music from a Mac to the Zikmu via Bluetooth ?

You can use your Parrot speakers with a Mac OS X Leopard (or later version). Use the 10.5.7 version to avoid any random disconnection.
Please note that you may not have a high quality sound if your Mac is already connected to a Bluetooth mouse or a Bluetooth keypad.

Is it possible to connect my PC to the Parrot speakers automatically ?

You can do that using the Parrot Audio Configuration Tool software.
Click on the icon

icon and make sure the Run on system start up, Reconnect last device and Connect Bluetooth streaming options are selected.

Note: The Connect Bluetooth streaming option is not available if you are using the Toshiba Bluetooth stack. Use the Toshiba user interface to establish connection.

Is it possible to connect several Parrot speakers with each other ?

No, it is neither possible to connect an audio player to several Parrot speakers simultaneously nor to connect several Parrot speakers with each other.
